swamps

getting inspired by these photographs Martin Munkacsi took in Cypress Gardens near Charleston, SC (circa 1937) where I'll be heading this weekend.

Hoping I'll be brave enough to try something like this, despite my fear of alligators.

islands

I visited Jekyll Island and St. Simon's Island this weekend with my friend Eska to take some photographs. I ended up overexposing a few, but I think I am getting the hang of this paper.

scanner apparitions and adventures with dpp

First successes with the new direct positive paper I bought from Harman! So fun to use (although the super long exposures in my pinhole can be limiting at times), it takes me back to last summer, making paper negatives in my coffee can, except these are positives! It is super high contrast, which works well with the mordancage, so that is a plus, but it is a bit much at times so I think I will experiment with pre flashing. I hope they will continue to improve as I shoot, I'll be going this weekend to St. Simons Island and Jekyll island and Charleston the next to get some variety.

getting back into the swing of pinholes and mordancage

Starting off my last quarter at SCAD has been a bit overwhelming. I am revisiting and continuing a project I started in the fall, "thin veils", for my senior project. This is the first time I have continued a project into another class and while it is easier in some ways, I feel like I am struggling a bit to get back into the mindset I was in when I started this project. I had my first critique over a week ago and had to come up with something quickly, which is not how I work best. However, I am somewhat happy with the results, I may not end up using them but at least the process is starting.

platinum/palladium

My first (somewhat) successful platinum/palladium prints from class. Next I will begin putting together a technical notebook, after that creating a body of work. The top was taken in Saint Helena Island, SC. The bottom, in my bedroom.
