a big thanks to Aline Smithson for featuring my work on her blog, LENSCRATCH yesterday. She has devoted this entire week to artists from Verve's "Do Process" show.

ambrotypes

This Sunday I continued my wet plate collodion experiments, this time using glass instead of tin. Ambrotypes are underexposed glass plate negatives backed with black velvet making them a one of a kind positive image.  The top image is correctly exposed with a shorter development time while the bottom image is slightly overexposed with a longer development time. A longer development time gives the image a creamier tone. Next I hope to experiment with making glass plate negatives, which require a longer exposure and a slightly different developer.

wet plate collodion

My first attempts at wet plate collodion tintypes. Thanks to Gordon Mark and Amanda King for teaching me the ways. Can't wait to make more!
